The white-tailed deer, also known as the whitetail, is a medium-sized deer native to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America as far south as Peru and Bolivia.
These eagles were photographed at the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River just north of Baltimore, Maryland.
Many eagles congregate here during the winter. The feeding activity can really heat up when the dam's hydro-electric turbines are in operation, causing a supply of fresh fish to be released from the downstream side of the dam.
One of the few things I look forward to in the winter are migratory waterfowl. Many species migrate to our area to escape the brutal cold of Canada and the arctic for our milder climate and a chance at survival.
Although most of these birds don't have the beautiful plumage they develop during the breeding season. Some are still quite striking such as the Mergansers.

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge encompasses over 25,000 acres on Maryland's beautiful Eastern Shore and has been designated a "Wetlands of International Importance" by the Ramsar Convention.
As a major stop on the Atlantic Flyway, Blackwater is a vital haven for waterfowl, as well as a sanctuary for the American bald eagle, the endangered Delmarva fox squirrel, and the peregrine falcon.
One of my favorite places to visit, the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Beautiful sunrises over the Atlantic Ocean and breathtaking sunsets on the sound side of the barrier islands.
A premier destination for sport fishing, incredible beaches, wild ponies, historic lighthouses and much more.
